ANGFA Privacy Policy

This policy explains in detail how “Australia New Guinea Fishes Association” (ANGFA) along with its affiliated entities use any information collected by us during any session of website usage by you, or when subscribing as a financial member (“your information”). ANGFA will always handle your information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles.

Your information is collected via two ways. Firstly, by browsing “ANGFA” will cause the software to create a number of cookies, which are small text files that are downloaded on to your computer’s web browser temporary files. The first cookie just contains an anonymous session identifier (hereinafter “session-id”), automatically assigned to you by the software. If you log in we also create a cookie to keep you logged in.

The second way in which we collect your information is by what you submit to us. This can be, and is not limited to: posting as an anonymous user (“anonymous posts”), registering on “ANGFA” (“your account”), posts submitted by you after registration and whilst logged in (“your posts”) or by subscribing to ANGFA as a financial member.

Your website account will at a bare minimum contain a uniquely identifiable name (“your user name”), a personal password used for logging into your account (“your password”) and a personal, valid email address (“your email”). Your information for your account at “ANGFA” is protected by data-protection laws applicable in Australia. Any information beyond your user name, your password, and your email address required by “ANGFA” during the registration process is either mandatory or optional, at the discretion of “ANGFA”. In all cases, you have the option of what information in your account is publicly displayed. This is limited to information you provide us such as your: Organization, Address, City, Postcode/Zip, Country, State, Phone, Fax, Department, and Mobile Phone.

Your password is ciphered (a one-way hash) so that it is secure. However, it is recommended that you do not reuse the same password across a number of different websites. Your password is the means of accessing your account at “ANGFA”, so please guard it carefully and under no circumstance will anyone affiliated with “ANGFA” or another 3rd party, legitimately ask you for your password. Should you forget your password for your account, you can use the “I forgot my password” feature provided by the software. This process will ask you to submit your user name and your email, then the software will generate a new password to reclaim your account.

If you use the website to become a financial member of ANGFA your transactions will be handled by PayPal, or other 3rd party provider. ANGFA does not have access to, and does not store, your financial information apart from your PayPal or other provider username.

ANGFA does not disclose your personal information to any third parties unless it is required by law,  or for the normal operation of the website, or for managing your membership payments and associated subscription services.
