What a useful little book - no pretentions and packed with information in quite abbreviated form. The author has chosen the term inland rather than freshwater because many of the streams in W.A. have appreciable salinity for various reasons.
Fishes are covered in two geographical sections - southwest and northern, and then by families. Habitat colour plates are quite good and the smallish colour and black and white photos are sufficient for a field guide. Having to continually turn to the illustrations, which are in blocks of several pages, and nowhere near the corresponding text, can be tiresome, but a book of this nature must compromise in some areas.
For anyone interested in native fish and especially if you intend collecting or just looking in W.A. this is a worthwhile acquisition.
